Share the Joy of Play with Children in Need: Volunteer for Play Your Part Boston on Dec. 13

October 29, 2018 | Join The Toy Foundation (TTF) to make this holiday season memorable for hundreds of children in need during its second annual “Play Your Part Boston” volunteer event taking place on December 13. Volunteer registration for the event is now open.

TTF is seeking volunteers to hand out toys and help spread holiday cheer through games and activities for the children, including decorating cookies, creating custom ornaments, taking pictures with Santa, and other fun-filled activities. Volunteers can bring hope, comfort, and joy to an at-risk child’s holiday season by giving just a few hours of their time.

Toy companies can also participate by: sponsoring a game or activity station or by donating product. All types of toys are needed, particularly action figures, board games, craft kits, dolls, games, puzzles, sports toys, and more for children ages three to 12. These toys will be given to each child at the event and placed in stuffed gift bags which will later be distributed to families throughout the Boston area. Toys will serve these families for birthdays, holidays, ceremonies, special occasions, and more.

“We are so excited to bring Play Your Part back to Boston. It’s a great way for members of the toy community to share the gift of play with underserved kids in the local area,” said Elizabeth Max, TTF’s senior foundation manager. “While many kids are busy making their holiday wish lists, there are some kids who may not have any toys at all to call their own. Your kind and generous donation of time or product will allow these children to temporarily forget their worries and enjoy the magic of the holidays.”

Play Your Part Boston will be hosted in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester and held from 4 to 7 p.m. at IBEW in Dorchester, MA. Corporate teams and individuals looking to participate have until November 28 to sign up. The Foundation is asking that companies choose one team captain to gather and email volunteer names. Sponsorship commitments are needed by November 26, while toy donations will be accepted through November 30.
